Hi all,

currently i have a ZFSGuru server running on a 250GB boot drive, the system as a whole is performing much better than expected with 5x 2TB drives as raidz easily saturating the single GB ethernet it currently has available.

I've got a couple of issues for those more wise than me that know a bit about HDD's so should i worry about any of this?

1 Hitachi 5k3000 has developed 1 active bad sector
1 Hitachi 5k3000 has developed 36 passive bad sectors
My WD20earx has 414 passive bad sectors and 8500 load cycles and its onl a month old should i run wdidle2? the hitachis are over a year old and only have about 825 cycles.

any thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated

current hardware:
AMD Athlon 270u
ASUS M5A97 EVO
8GB Crucial 1333 ECC DDR3
4x 2TB Hitachi 5k3000
1x 2TB WD20EARX
1x 250GB Seagate system drive

OS:
ZFSGuru 0.2.0 beta 8, 9.1-004

yes any green drive should have it's wd3idle set. the default state is 8 seconds! As for power usage it doesn't really matter much if your drive is idle or not. The difference is about 2 watt max so I generally just do the Disable setting.

thanks for the reply,

green drive now set to 300 seconds as that seems to be the recommendation over most of the internet, whats your thoughts about the bad/pending sectors?
