Dear ZFS guru,

On a system with multiple ZFS pools, is it possible to stop one of the pools specifically while keeping the other ZFS pool ("we_dont_touch_this") fully operational? The aim is to physically move the entire ZFS structure (including physical disks) without losing the content and without the need of switching out the server. Unloading zfs module would not help here since that would affect both pools.

Any help is appreciated.

With kind regards,

Balazs Balint

You can export the pool so all changes are flushed to disk and it is no longer accessible until imported. The data still resides on the disk, and can be imported later when needed. Search google for migrating zfs pools for more information about this.
