Thank you for the new 007 system builds CiPHER. Appreciate keeping up the good work on ZFSguru. The MATE desktop is nice and more user friendly for me than GNOME 3 was. I hope we can try also the coming 11.0-RELEASE build soon.

Is there a dl version of this new build for installs without internet access?

I'm not aware of a direct dl link so you need Internet access to download from System/Install menu.

A functioning remote desktop server for MATE would make the new build more usable tough.

I hope this direct link is permitted...

Here are 11.0-CURRENT (11.0.007), 10.3-STABLE (10.4.007), 10.3-RELEASE (10.3.007)
http://bravo.zfsguru.com/system/ZFSguru-system-11.0.007-amd64.ufs.uzip
http://bravo.zfsguru.com/system/ZFSguru-system-10.4.007-amd64.ufs.uzip
http://bravo.zfsguru.com/system/ZFSguru-system-10.3.007-amd64.ufs.uzip

Once you boot the install ISO or USB image, enable ssh, then scp the files into /download/
The next time you go to System -> Install, you should see the "Download" button replaced with "Available".

FYI: On booting, 11.0.007 reports itself as "FreeBSD 11.0-ALPHA1"

Is there a thread listing the differences between each version, as I seem to remember discussion that some of them do not have all the services available.

I see no listing but as far as I saw pretty much every services are ready for use in the new builds. Expect some services to break if you make pkg upgrade, so for example qbittorrent goes. There is no working GNOME3 service in 007 releases, but we got MATE desktop instead which is better. There may be some services depending strictly on GNOME3 so we may miss some temporarily.
FreeBSD 11 goes stable on 28. September so we can expect fresh builds early October if CiPHER is so good to us:)

Thank you for the new 008 system images CiPHER. I've personally using the 11.0.008 stable now and seems to be everything working fine.

I kindly asking for an 'official' script repairing ZFSguru web interface and the system logging on it. If I manually installing a package with #pkg install - or upgrading packages with #pkg upgrade, braking web interface/logging often happens. I know You have given help in this matter here already

http://zfsguru.com/forum/zfsgurudevelopment/1092
a built in interface sanity check would be the full solution.

Hi CiPHER,

Could You be specific about 12.0.009, 11.1.009 and 11.0.009 build? Services, Samba4, etc.?

@j3g: sorry for the late reply. You probably have booted the LiveCD and thus are writing to RAM. That error message may be the result of lack of RAM. So try adding more RAM if it is a virtual machine, or install somewhere else. You need at least 2GiB RAM to boot ZFSguru properly. After installation, that requirement drops to like 0.5GiB RAM.

@karmantyu: the new 009 builds are just updated builds. I did not make any changes to the service definitions. So the services get updated package versions, nothing more.

11.1 is new; it is 11-STABLE, which will eventually become 11.1-RELEASE.
12.0 is also new; it is the new 12-CURRENT which is the development branch where all the new code is committed to. Normally it has debugging enabled, but ZFSguru disables debugging so it doesn't run as slow as would be the case with debugging enabled.

The 009 build only has non-graphical services, so no X-Windows desktop.

Also, starting from the 009 build the older 10.x builds are deprecated. Though if people like i can make 10.x builds too. But i think most people want to run 11.0 or 11.1 instead.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Yeah i probably can do 010 builds in the first week of january, with graphical services. I need to make some changes to the build scripts to decrease maintenance time on the port options - that is why i skipped the graphical services for build 009.

11.0.008 should be a good system image to use if you want MATE desktop, since 11.0.008 is based on the final 11.0-RELEASE build.

Yes I can state that 11.0.008 is one of the best compilations. Maybe an old 9 one was similar usable a while ago. I would appreciate much if you could take the time for 010 with X and Samba4 instead of the deprecated Samba3. I'am rebuilding my server now but will wait happily for the new compilation.

Good suggestion. Samba3 is still integrated in the ZFSguru release - something i would love to change. So ideally Samba would not be part of ZFSguru system image itself but rather as a service, and you can choose between Samba3 and Samba4.

For now, i guess i could create a Samba4 service that removes Samba3 packages and installs Samba4 instead.

Beware though: Samba4 has deprecated the 'Share' level security model. This means the permissions as ZFSguru has integrated it, will stop working. You will need to manually configure Samba4. Later i can make a new GUI for Samba4, but it won't be as sleek as the one we have now, with drag&drop interface.

Also, Samba4 is said to be faster, but in my experience that is not the case. For users with multiple NICs using link aggregation and modern Windows using multi-path SMB, Samba4 would indeed give you a performance benefit. But for normal gigabit networks, i have not seen any benefit in my own testing.

Speed is only secondary for me. First is compatibility. I have an open `ticket' under the Support section because of some Windows10 Samba3/Share level incompatibility I suspect.

Hi CiPHER, I know it is little bit rude but is there any ETA for 010? I wish to know it because I've finished the backup and rebuilt my hardware so the server is ready for it.

All right i have not started the build yet. But i can do that soon i guess. The building will take a couple of days though; usually 2 if all goes well.

I will let you know once i started them all right? Then you have an indication about how long it takes.

It is building now, so expect in one week time if no show-stoppers present themselves.

I do not have my fast build machine anymore though - i have to build on slower machine so it will take a bit of time. Only the X service dependency is already 600 minutes (10 hours). :P

That is great news CiPHER! Hope nothing comes between X and me :) 10 hours for X is a lot.
Anyway - preparing my server for upgrade.

Build failed with errors on X - 12.0 and X currently broken.

So i am rebuilding with 11.0.010 now. Probably 11.0 will have X services and 11.1 and 12.0 only non-X services. This is so that i can release this weekend i hope.

I will keep you informed!

It takes long; problems with codecpack service. Even with 11.0. :(

I am trying hard to release tomorrow however, if it is possible.

I have more news to share about development; that i will announce on the general forum.

Stay tuned! :)

Ok, codecpack is fixed and compiled now. Moving on to the X services for 11.0.010 build (11.0-RELEASE).
