On my install, Share Names are being limited to 8 characters. How do I change that? That's a fatal limitation for me.

Blame Microsoft; they used this limitation on older Windows versions. If ZFSguru were to allow longer names, it would not work on multiple Windows versions. I think Vista SP1 supports longer names, but I forgot about the details.

You can still manually edit /usr/local/etc/smb.conf though. But beware of issues for too long share names, or ones with special characters which is not allowed.

Consider using the comment to store more information that you need.

Probably ZFSguru web-interface can be modified to allow longer names, but with a warning that it will only work on newer Windows versions.

Thanks for your reply. Current versions of windows will allow longer names. Other NAS platforms also allow longer file share names but each has it's own limitation. We are favoring ZFSguru except for this limitation. Otherwise, all the important functionality works nicely and easier for less technical staff to grasp should that be needed. I would welcome a modification to the web-interface.
